The Comprehensive Vaccine Education Program - From Training to Practice is a combined educational offering to help combat vaccine misinformation and address vaccine hesitancy in two ways.
- Enhancing vaccine knowledge and confidence in having discussions with patients and parents through a web-based education curriculum (CoVER)
- Enhancing access for medical providers to reliable, up-to-date and accurate vaccine information through The Vaccine Handbook: A Practical Guide for Clinicians, also known as The Purple Book. Everyone from physicians and advanced practice providers on the front lines to trainees, nurses, and pharmacists, as well as the patients and parents of patients who receive them, will find value in this resource. This module covers the most commonly reported vaccination concerns of parents and patients. As many of these concerns are also addressed in other CoVER modules, we refer you to these modules for additional details.
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this module, learners will be able to:
- Demonstrate the ability to succinctly and accurately answer a patient’s vaccine concern during a well-care visit.
- Using plain language, summarize why it is better to develop immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases through vaccination than through “natural infection.”
- Compose a social media post targeted to parents that outlines the safety of a vaccine adjuvant (e.g., aluminum, thimerosal).
